Overview
Kamado Joe, founded in 2009, took on Big Green Egg by out-innovating it: its ceramic grills add a 3-tier Divide & Conquer cooking system, a Kontrol Tower top vent, a Harvard-designed SloRoller smoking insert, and a multi-panel firebox, and they ship complete with a cart and accessories that BGE charges extra for. The result is widely judged the most capable kamado out of the box, at the highest price.

Kamado Joe is worth it for cooks who want the most features and the most in the box: Divide & Conquer flexibility, a smoking insert, and a cart included. Those who only want the core ceramic cooker, the biggest ecosystem, or a lower entry price may prefer the Big Green Egg.
