Pride Mobility
The established US mobility-equipment maker whose VivaLift! line leads the premium power-lift-recliner market
- Founded
- 1986
- Country
- United States
- Warranty
- Lifetime on lift/scissor mechanism and lift frame (metal fatigue, welds, bushings); 1 year on motor, hand control, transformer/control boxes, frame, recline mechanism; 1 year lithium battery; 90 days RF pendant. Fabric explicitly NOT covered; labor/service calls/shipping excluded unless pre-authorized.
- Support
- Authorized-dealer sales/service model (not Amazon-only), BBB A+ and accredited since 2018 with low complaint volume (22 in 3 years), but complaints skew toward service/repair — warranty disputes, delayed repairs, paid service-call fees, and dealer communication gaps. Service quality depends heavily on the local dealer.
Overview
Pride Mobility Products, founded 1986 by the Meuser and Kretchik families in Pittston, PA and now headquartered in Duryea, PA, is a legitimate durable-medical-equipment manufacturer of power wheelchairs (Jazzy), scooters (Go-Go), and the VivaLift! power lift recliner line (launched 2017). Products are FDA Class II medical devices sold through authorized DME dealers, with real industry credibility (Consumer Reports testing, BBB accreditation) — though independent-site consumer sentiment is genuinely mixed, especially on warranty/service disputes.
Is it worth it?
Pride is worth it for people who genuinely need lift-and-stand assistance and want a purpose-built mobility chair — the VivaLift! line has a real dual-motor infinite-recline mechanism, a lifetime frame/mechanism warranty, and DME pedigree, and Medicare Part B may partially reimburse the lift motor with a prescription. It is overkill for someone who just wants a comfortable recliner, where a standard or budget power recliner costs far less.
