The verdict
These two Sonos portables answer different questions. The Move 2 is the bigger, better speaker: true stereo, far more bass, up to 24 hours of battery, and the muscle to fill a patio — at about $399 and 6.6 pounds. The Roam 2 is the truly portable one: under a pound, IP67 submersible, and roughly $179, but mono with about 10 hours of battery, so it is a companion speaker rather than the life of the party. Choose the Move 2 if it will mostly live on the patio and you want the best sound; choose the Roam 2 if it needs to travel, go in a bag, or survive the pool. Many Sonos households end up with both.
